Design Haus Architecture

"I had a fantastic experience working with James from Haus Design Architecture, who visited our property to explore the potential for an extension. From the moment he arrived, he was warm, friendly and full of ideas. What really stood out was his solution-focused approach. Rather than just looking at extending, he thoughtfully considered how we could better utilise our existing space, offering a range of creative and practical ideas we hadn’t even considered. We then had a follow-up Zoom where he shared his concepts in more detail using our floorplans, which really helped bring everything to life. His knowledge of space, layout and design is impressive, and he explains everything in a clear and accessible way. The whole process felt easy & professional. I would highly recommend James and Haus Design Architecture to anyone considering an extension or any kind of home renovation."

"Following is an email sent to James & Esther at Design Haus on 10th December 2025, to which never received a response (reference to fees have been redacted for our own privacy) - Subject: Feedback on Services and Payment Confirmation Dear Esther and James, We have forwarded payment as agreed in our contract. However, we feel it is important to share our concerns regarding the service we received. We are extremely disappointed that, after spending nearly £X,000, we have nothing of real value or use to show for our time working with you. When James visited us initially, he presented exciting ideas and possibilities for our design, which gave us confidence to trust your firm. Unfortunately, that trust was misplaced. Our expectation was that a professional architect would come prepared with a portfolio of concepts, previous designs, and creative suggestions. Instead, we were met with a blank screen and found ourselves developing the concept from scratch in James' company. As non-experts, this was not what we were paying for. The final design reflects what we could have produced ourselves, without professional input. In essence, we paid for a service that did not deliver the expertise promised. Beyond arranging a survey and converting the surveyor's plan into a 3D drawing, we saw little evidence of the award-winning design skills we were led to expect. We don't know what work has actually been done to warrant a £X,XXX payment. We also note that budget considerations were never properly addressed, despite repeated attempts to discuss costs. We still feel now that you have no idea of what our budget is, despite us sharing this in the initial meet. This left us feeling that the process was designed to lead to further paid design sessions, rather than providing clarity upfront. The concept we ended up with is impractical and uninspired, and professionals we are now working with have expressed surprise at its poor quality. We believe your positive reviews online reflect a fuller service package, not the pared-down version we experienced, which offered no meaningful design input. Given our dissatisfaction and the lack of value received, we would appreciate it if you could consider a partial refund as a gesture of goodwill. We hope you take this feedback seriously and reflect on how expectations were managed. While we have honored our agreement, we remain deeply dissatisfied and will share our experience honestly if asked."

"We have worked with Design Haus now for some months following an initial consultation meeting where I outlined our vision for a complete overhaul of our school playground. From the outset, James' enthusiasm for the project has been infectious. Taking on board our ideas, including those from the pupils, James and his team set about making us a fantastic concept board. This board, which is now being used to apply for funding and generate momentum for the project, was carefully constructed with a clear rationale for each section of the design. James and the team have been so approachable throughout the entire process - listening to our concerns and questions and working tirelessly to overcome any barriers we have faced."

"James designed a significant redevelopment to our home which has surpassed our wildest hopes and dreams. The use of technology enables a quick and efficient exploration of different concepts and approaches which allowed us to amend our initial thoughts and create something even better. Following the initial site meetings, a lot was then done remotely which saves time for all sides. James also helped us navigate the frustrating planning process, remaining calm and measured when I was not! I have and will continue to recommend James to anyone looking for innovative architectural design."

"James at Design Haus Architecture was a brilliant architect in designing a future home for myself. He listened to my ideas and really got me involved with every step of the design. He gave me great advise and opportunity to change the design to suit my needs. His knowledge of architecture in the way we live today is amorous and of great importance which I will always be grateful of. Thank you James for a great house design."
